Wanted is a trail of word and image in a striking series of small drawings exhibited in classified ads in nine newsagents' windows around Camberwell Green. This site-specific project was commissioned by Creative Routes in collaboration with the South London Gallery as part of four commissions for Bonkerfest 07, a festival set in Camberwell Green, which aims to combat misconceptions and dispel myths surrounding mental health, engage with the public and celebrate creativity and diversity. The project set to bring artwork to the community, convey thoughts and ideas around mental health and create a broken narrative through the classified ads section in shop windows. |

Classified ads offer a glimpse into the lives of an anonymous community who are brought together by the offers and searches for homes, jobs, goods and services. The ads reveal hopes and promises, desires and aspirations. The random cluster of words and images in the shop windows create unpredictable narratives. This project is inspired by the direct visual language of the classified ads ideas and the broken narratives they create. |

| Some of the drawings and text-based pieces are more blatant, interrupting the window display, while other pieces are disguised as ‘real’ ads, and are in fact ads which have been modified to include other voices which express the fears, desires and beliefs of an invisible community. |
